Hello, I am Michael Cloud — husband, father, and grateful citizen of the United States. I have a passion for helping people make a difference in our communities, state and nation. I’ve started this blog to take the lessons I’ve learned as a volunteer citizen activist, inform others and hopefully inspire action. You can read more about this in my first blog post.
I am a volunteer citizen activist who became involved in politics when a poll worker asked me if I wanted to attend a precinct convention. At the time, I didn’t know what a precinct convention was — but two years later, I was elected the County Chair of the Victoria County Republican Party. Currently serving my fourth term, we have experienced tremendous growth in involvement — and overwhelming success in the election of our candidates.
At the State Convention in 2016, I was also elected to represent our 21-county Texas Senate District 18 on the State Republican Executive Committee. I am currently serving on the Legislative Priorities committee, which is tasked with working with legislators and citizens to ensure that conservative platform priorities make it through the legislative process to become law.
Professionally, I am the founder and creative director of Bright Idea Media – a media platform and messaging company. Bright Idea Media quickly established itself as a premier production company in the region winning numerous advertising awards. Our work has aired nationally and internationally.
I am a graduate of Oral Roberts University where I studied Mass Media Communication and ran Track and Cross Country. Upon Graduation, I moved to Texas to serve as the Media and Communications Director at Faith Family Church, Victoria, TX. At Faith Family, I built the media department from the ground up, directed a weekly show airing internationally and was responsible for the communications and messaging strategy.
My greatest treasure is my family. My wife, Rosel and I met when we were 15 and 17 and married following a seven-year long distance relationship. Rosel is a naturalized citizen and teaches for the Victoria Independent School District. Together we have three active — and very entertaining — children; Ean, Zoe and Kent.
